Early morning Grey Street – Roy Francis Kirton

I have often wanted to paint the atmosphere of Grey Street, so one morning I set up my easel very early and tried to capture on paper the mood of the whole street. Dominated by Richard Grainger’s iconic buildings, your eye is taken gently down the hill towards the Quayside. Some buildings are more distinctive than others but the whole street is a tribute to how architecture can work well.
